Can someone please help me my PC is driving me nuts. when i am playing games my computer just randomly freezes and the sound goes into a continous stuttering sound..

at the moment i am playing company of heroes but it has also done it within football manager.

i have also tried command & conquer tiberian wars but as that has a number of problems with vista 64 i have put that to one side for now.

the only thing i can do is to reboot.

thanx for any advice i need it.

Take the side of the pc and see if it still does it, as fulcrumer says it may be the heat.

If this works you need to get some air through the case.

Update..

Drivers - I have the latest release from ati already installed.
Heat - I am already running the PC without the side.

IAmaTeaf - there a piece of software you recommend to check the temps & volts..

I have also tried with only one card in and it did not make any difference.

thanx

OK I have been having the same problem for ages now.

Try this: in the bios set your CPU multiplier to it's lowest value and then stress the computer to see if it freezes again. If it doesn't then me and you are in the exact same boat :)

P.S the problem is NOT heat (well I doubt it very much)

same happened to me, turned out to be the graphics card was overheating.

check the heatsink and fan assembly on the graphics card and make sure its not clogged up with dust/dirt
