PC Keeps Locking up on Game

Game DOESNT work with or without sound:( I disabled all the sound and game locks up again in these certain maps.

Use onbaord graphics = Game works fine but low fps
Use 6950 = game locks up on certain maps
Uninstalled 6950 drivers = game works fine
Installed drivers that came with 6950 = game locks up on certain maps.

Its defintly the graphics card or the drivers..and i think its the drivers because ive ran other games such as crysis without a problem.
This is annoying. Am I going to have to sell my fancy gfx card for a 20£ one just for this game...

thanks for all the help
im not sure what to do now either.

maybe someone else will have some ideas.
im trying find old drivers at the moment but can only find the newest on amd site

Just looked up MU Online on wikipedia, it came out in 2003.

Its not as old as I thought it was going to be. I was going to suggest old graphics drivers that can be found on the net to work with new gen graphics cards like the old 3dfx and OpenGL. But if the game is actually running but then crashes its probably not that as if these drivers were required the game wouldnt start at all.

Hmmmmmmm, puzzling......

yes puzzling
i use dvi for my monitor, not hdmi.
if i stay in certain maps the game runs perfectly fine and i could stay there 24/7 without crashing. Then i go to the maps that ive seen to lock my system up and i get locked up after 2-5 minutes.

I wish there was a error report to tell me what was going on. What are these drivers you mention? im willing to try anything

No forget about the drivers I mentioned, was just thinking out loud really, some really old games would only run on new age systems with certain drivers from the pre Windows XP era, like OpenGL etc which I think is about the time of Windows 98. But as the game does run on your system and wikipedia says it supports XP in 2003 then it cant require these otherwise the game would refuse to run at all.

Very strange how the game will run fine until you load certain maps you mention?

yes its strange.
Ive downloaded the game twice from two different locations to make sure its not corrupt.
i guess il format and try. doubt its going to make a difference.

does anyone else have a 6950 here and willing to test the game for me?
I can give you an account to use and place the character in the map where i crash. All you would need to do if stand in the place i put the character for 5 minutes and see if crash.
I know im asking a lot here tho..

I get the exact same problem in Quake2 with my xfx 6950. Heck, I returned an msi 6950 on the assumption it was faulty. In the same machine with the same drivers my old ATI 4770 works like a charm. But slap the 6950 in and anywhere between 1minute and 3hours of Quake2 will result in a system lockup. I've used multiple components and operating system installs on 2 builds to rule everything else out.

Either drivers, inherent hardware issue or combination of both. You'll be wasting your time on a replacement.
