When turning on PC is fires momentarily & the fan spins, the it appears to switch off & the fan slows down & then spins up again & it does this over & over till eventually it loads properly, I thought the on off switch might be at fault but it's not that I don't think, I've poked & prodded all the mobo fittings etc. I leave it in sleep mode on & off ,sometimes it wakes up on & off all day & then it starts to play up again, any ideas ? it has Practically new PSU so hopefully not power problem

I get that on my pc sometimes, after its been moved, or i have added new hardware or just out of the blue usually when it does the start up fan spinning and turn off and then pull the power lead out and try to turn it on to drain the power left in the psu, i then put the power cable back in and it boots first time. Whats the spec of your pc might help. first i would recommend you try a cmos reset and also test your psu, you say its practically new it can still be faulty so its worth testing it

Sounds like a cold booting issue. My PC does this once in a while. There's been numerous topics on these forums about it. I believe in my case, it's due to the PC not detecting the RAM timings/settings correctly on POST. Something that is common with my motherboard apparently.

I've tried updating my BIOS and tweaking my Boot settings but to no avail. So I just live with it.

Depends on the PSU. If it's a top brand PSU then maybe it'll be okay. If , however, it's a cheap 'branded' (though not really a top brand) and it's giving issues now, I'd swap it out immediately. Cheap PSUs have a nasty habit of going bang and taking other components with them.
