Hey guys, right clocked my E6420 (you must know that by now :p ), i ran Small FFTs - Stress CPU last night for 9 Hours, no errors then when i woke up this morning i ran Blend - Stress CPU and RAM for the day till i came back from college, that was 9 hours as well no errors or anything.

Now that im home, i play a game, even just surfing the net, My PC restarts, which is a real shame.

CPU Frequency = 401 and the Vcore at 1.5 Volts

Memory = 1003 MHZ 4-4-4-12 with 2.25 Volts

Any ideas?

Try and run some tests on your HDD's.
Are the restarts in windows or just generall bios/posting? If in windows check the error in the computer management.
PSU rails holding ok?

Thanks for the replys guys. Cpu Temps fine, when running Orthos, stress testing programs etc.. 60 degrees and below and about 30 Idle, nothing to worry about at all.

The machine restarts when in windows. How would i check the Rails of my PSU and My Hard Disks?

First off check whats causing the restarts in windows....

Go to, i THINK (trying to remember XP here!)

start>right click my computer> manage> event viewer>errors

Something like that, check the details/properties of the errors at the time of the crash and post the results here.

usually its the ram causing randon restarts. memtest is best run using test 5 for a good 100 passes, and run test 8 to see if you got command rate issues.

Ok cool thanks everyone, will do that tommorrow, or later today. :p

Just seems funny, 18 Hours of stress testing, then as soon as i use the pc, Bam Restart. lol

I mate

uhhhhmmm, my two kits of Ballistyx PC2 5300 give me some " funny jokes " like that you have ,after some 2/3 months running with 2.25V

but im memtest86( cd-boot) they shown a lot of errors within minutes
( of course i send both back to Crucial in RMA)

now I´m using a new kit of the same Ram at 333mhz,12-3-3-3 at 1.9V ,for a week now completely stable ( not one single problem like rebots, BSOD, or refusing to boot like before)
