Right, here goes, I have just spent 80 quid on the above power supply, fitted it, running great......and its just ***##**n switched itself off same as before!!!

Now what??? I am getting very upset, wait till i tell the missus i didn't need to spend 80 quid!

why did u buy a PSU ? when that might not have been the cause.

I need to know temps and voltages first. to be able to point u in the right direction

I have tried motherboard monitor but my board aint supported so i can only go off everest it says

CPU Core 1.28v
+3.3v:3.33v
+5v:5.14v
+12v:11.86v

At the moment motherboard is 35c
CPU 37c
GPU 42c
Both HD's 34c

cheers

Well if it's not the PSU then it could be either the mobo or a faulty component resulting in the sudden shutdown. I'd strip the PC bare of things that you can do without and check for the shutdown problem and then plug things back in 1 at a time. If the removal still results in a shutdown then I'd suspect the mobo.

PSU, I reckon. These cheap PSUs have a habit of acting up. Can you make the problem come on faster by stressing the rig, ie. Orthos and gaming?

can't be that, as hes got a new one, and he still has the problem!

AS some one said earlier, i would strip the PC, run it on bare minimum stuff, OUT of the case (in case its shorting inside the case somewhere)

basically do it on a box/cardboard out of the case, run the PSU, CPU, RAM and GFX card only, ram chips only 1 of them, try all 3/4 slots is u need to.
if that boots into the bios fine, then add the hard drive, see if that then gets into Windows.

Good luck, let us know how u get on

I should learn to read :o

In that case, running it outside of the case is definitely a good starting point.
