(Thanks its still an awesome piece of kit)

This last week it's started randomly turning itself off about once every other day, then this morning when it shut down it didn't want to start back up again. I unplugged everything, gave it a bit of a clean, checked the connectors, etc, and it's started up and working okay again, but I'm fearing pretty soon it's just not going to want to wake up again..! :(

I know intermittent faults can be pretty hard to track, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas what it might be/where to start looking? I've got a lot of important installs on it (as I use it for work as well), so would prefer not to have to do a complete rebuild.. yet..

Any help would be great,
Thanks.

I'd be looking at the cooler first, and PSU second.

I've had to replace a couple of the Antec AIO range in the past year or so due to failure of the pump, they have a three year warranty so OCUK should cover you with that if it does turn out to be the issue. Download and install HWinfo64 and run a stress test on the computer and watch the temps see how they go. :)

Hey,

Thanks, Yep the temperatures are all good, sitting between 30-37C in idle.. I'm not sure how to check the coolant as it's a completely sealed system, but it's looking pretty nickel, no signs of leakage or residue..

Pumps seem to be working.. all lights are on and fans are running at a comfortable steady state..

Lol :) Love the tech :) Well I gave it a shake.. and without having an ear for it, I could hear a bit of sloshing (but not much) and sounds like it is maybe 75-85% full? Its hard to tell without having done it before..

I ran a 100% stress test (Prime95) and the CPU temperature slowly went up from 30C to 51C over 5 minutes, then rose pretty quickly to 73C, then sat there pretty much constant for another 15 minutes.. As soon as I stopped the stress processes the temperature dropped back down to 30C within about 5 seconds..

Sounds okay right?

You mean replace the PSU and see how it goes? Ok, might be worth a try.. When cleaning it out, noticed the ECO mode was enabled on the PSU, so have switched it off..

A friend mentioned could also be the DIMM slots, so try moving the RAM to another channel..

I'd also say try the PSU next, easy if you have a spare but it means borrowing or buying one unfortunately if you don't.

Yeah, it had started behaving for the last couple of days, but just crashed again.. :( Ok time for a new PSU.. Strange, I would have thought the PSU would be the most robust piece of kit in the PC..? A friend has one he said I could borrow, but just seen a direct replacement for the one I have atm (so will save having to rewire everything, as the wirings all pretty sweet/compact atm).. Plus, can always go towards my next setup :)

Glad to hear you sorted your problem out.

Did you RMA the PSU? That EVGA unit should have still been under warranty, I'd try and get a replacement if you haven't already. Even if you don't use it you could chuck it on ebay or keep it as a spare.
