Hi all,

My PC keeps turning off randomly. I checked the temps, they are around 40-50 on general usage so i dont think its that. I opened it up and checked all the connections which are fine. I tried to leave it on the BIOS and safe mode but it still turns off. Perhaps it's my PSU (a be quiet 1000W)? I dont have a spare to check though and I cant buy a new one as I will be buying a new PC later this year.

Anything in the event logs giving an indication of what happens? Does it just turn off suddenly or go through the shutdown procedure?

It turns off suddenly. there is still the correct lights on the mbb though. there is nothing in the event logs apart from a "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

I have also tried different wall sockets and unplugged any external connections such as USB devices.

Try reseating the Ram also take one out and try it with one in there (if you have more than 1) does it blue screen then turn off or just completely shuts off and does not turn back on?

It does not blue screen, just turns off. i have to pres the power button a few times before it turns on. I have run memtest which passed.

Ok just done a quick search and someone else had a similar problem and they was told to download HWmonitor when they ran it they found the 12v rail was only running at 8.9 volts and apparently it should be within 10% of 12v (according to the other forum) and this is why it was failing randomly im not saying this is the same as yours but it might be something to check

HWMonitor will never be 100% accurate. I'd check in the BIOS, you should have voltage in there somewhere. Obviously the issue comes if the voltages only drop off when you are under load.

If you want to use HWMonitor, check the BIOS, then check the voltage at idle in Windows using HWMonitor. If they match, then maybe you can trust it.

Run Prime95 or similar while checking those temps/voltages. Keep a close eye on the +12v and temps before it shuts down (If it does).

It looks fine at the moment, only stress testing will show a difference.

could you try with dram/vtt set to 1.315v and see if it crashes then

I ran that amount on my x58 just fine, your well within intel safe limits

For idle those temps on the CPU look a little high, not excessively so but not great and the 12v is a little on the low side.

As said run prime95 and keep track of the temps/voltages.

I agree the 12v seems low, it might drop more under load as well.
Had a similar problem a while back but that was due to a faulty power switch.
