Hey guys, so basically my system is kinda old, just bought crucial 240gb ssd, installed it, just as a second device to put WoW on. After loading into game, give it 10-20 seconds and computer locks up and shuts down, it was fine before on the HDD.

It's running in ide, tried to change to ahci in bios but system wouldn't boot so went back to ide.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Have you got the latest available drivers for your motherboard ?

You could update the bios on the motherboard if available but that comes with risks.

You could try a diffrent sata port.

ide mode, hmm, first step is to get that to ahci via enabling the msahci driver in registry. do a google for it. then put bios to ahci and boot to os. then install the intel rst ahci driver i use the v12.9 driver i think sincei have ich10do chipset i think (hard to remember this stuff from its first setup)
https://www.win-raid.com/t2f23-Intel-RST-RSTe-Drivers-latest-v-WHQL-v-WHQL.html for the driver. give that a shot and see how it goes.
also use something to check smart info on the ssd to be on the safe side and also check if there is a firmware update for the ssd.
