My pc makes a strange loud clicking noise usually a few minutes after i've turned it off...

Sometimes it's one click or 2-3 simultaneously...they only last for a fraction of a second.

kinda freaky when i go to sleep after i've turned off my pc and it makes this noise.

What could it be?

Only thing I can think of is heat.
When some material heats up, it sometimes expands, usually happen to some plastics, when it cools down it can make weird noises.
It usually applies to some roofs made of plastics during summer.
They heat up in the sun and when evening comes temps drop rapidly. This makes these noises.
I'd install some sensors inside the case to check which components cause this.
Just fyi, sudden changes of temperature from hot to cold can damage sensitive equipment so I would treat it seriously.

Could be the fan on the psu slowing down and catching the grill cover? This has happened to be before, i just bent the grill up alittle away from the fan

ignore/ juest re read your post :), id go with what Bart says. You could try turning it off at the plug just after you shut it down and see if it still makes the noise.

Take the case panel off and wait for it to happen to find out exactly where but I suspect it's the PSU relay switch but the fact you mention it sometimes is 2-3 simultaneous ones is strange.

Do you have a decent sound card? My stx does it and everytime I feel like I'm breaking it haha.

I do not have a sound card in my pc.

I shall try the suggestions you guys mentioned and try to determine which component the clicking noise is coming from. Thanks
