Hi all,

Been playing some team based multiplayer games lately and it seems most people use a microphone. I've never used one myself so was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

Do most people where the ones attached to the head or desk mounted?

Not a fan of headsets myself.

I currently use the Logitech USB Microphone, great piece of kit.

A few people on the audio forum recommend the Elara Clip-On Microphone although personally, the Logitech USB is superb.

I bought one of the Elara clip on mics to use with some Goldrings, instead of the Sennheiser PC150 headset I had been using, but the sound quality from the Elara was terrible with a constant buzzing and clicking. Maybe it was a duffer but I just binned it. Now using a Trust high sensitivity desktop mic and it's great.

I hateeeeeeeeeeeee people who use desk mounted microphones! you can hear like every key typed, so annoying.

only if there open .just use push to talk.

also use usb mikes saves a lot of hassle as some soundcards have issues with normal stereo ones.

Definitely something wrong with yours by the sound of it. Plenty of people on here use them and do not have the problems you have described.

Yeah, the logitech is superb, a mate of mine has one and even though he is like a foot away form it you can make everything out superbly.

why are you so anti to head set mics? I find them far superior. Just stop being cheap and get a decent one, people ive heard using desk top ones have always had nasty sound quailty and can hear their game in the background because it has no sound canceling which is just irritating even if they are using push to talk. Also the sound quality of the senhier head sets is also very good considering. But i spent £60 on mine.

I use my soundmax superbeam stereo desktop microphone as I got it for free with my P5B Deluxe, used to use a headset before that and tbh it was crap.

Headsets may be the best for your voice, but proper headphones can be a lot better for your ears - my £40 Goldrings make my £60 Sennheiser headset sound horrible. Decent desktop mics or clip-on mics are easily good enough for voice comms, and the reason you've heard their game in the background is nothing to do with noise cancellation, it's because they're using speakers instead of headphones.
