PC Monitor as a background

Just experimenting with certain lighting conditions and metering modes tonight
would like some C&C on these please!

For the background i just created a white 1280x1024 image on photoshop.
Unsure about the cropping on them too, would it be better to crop the small box underneath the object off or not?

anyway, been thinking more about this idea tonight. would i benefit more if i had something reflecting some light back onto the object or not?
 
Reflecting would be good however it would seem your worst problem is the obscene amounts of chromatic aberration you're getting...
 
yeah i see what you mean on the cup shot especially, whats causing that?
is it the PC monitor being too bright or something related to the camera setup?
