I mean i've been playing in clans since the dawn of time, from game to game!

CS:S atm is good but it's losing itself community has stopped growing (competetive wise) and if anything is decreasing i myself have been playing COD4 since release. Ye it's alright but i can't see myself playing it in 2 years time.

What do you expect to be the next major online fps game? Surley there has to be a diamond in the rough? :) or are we going to be waiting for a year or two.

Probably a while off, i know that id are trying to get that game "rage" out before the end of the year (according to activision) but i think its safe to say the multi will be the same bog standard multiplayer they seem to rehash time and time again (and then they wonder why theyve not had a game thats been popular online for any length of time since quake 3).

Battlefield 3 possibly but no info on that at all yet.

The next FPS i know of thats getting released is Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 so i wouldnt hold my breath if i were you. maybe alan wake will get released sometime, who knows

I used to play Battlefield 2 and I agree that PC gaming needs a new online shooter. I thought that Crysis was very good online, and it was going to replace Battlefield 2 for me, but unfortunately it seems to have taken off dismally and there's no servers to play on.

I've been giving Call Of Duty 4 online a go recently but the maps are far too bloody small.

There won't be because all FPS games are basically the same game with different graphics. Nobody wants to play any unique FPS games like TFC was because nearly everyone falls under the 'play for 5 mins and see if I like it' category. They don't want to spend 10 hours finding out all the different gameplay elements. Thus this attitude leads them back round to the standard point and shoot FPS which promptly gets boring after 1 month.

That's just the way it is. Nowadays internet connection speeds are so fast everything is literally on the click of your finger - if you don't like something after 5mins, download something else. In the past players downloaded a mod or whatever and then wouldn't be able to try a new one out for a while after, therefore they actually spent time playing and exploring the game they just downloaded, rather than hopping onto a new one 1 hour later.

CS:S is still fun :)

Still just as many kids moaning and calling you a cheat while getting an admin on to spectate you.

But being honest, So many of the new FPS games are based on the same idea. They seem the same thing with different graphics (as said above). I was going to try TF2 for a laugh as it seems almost original.

I've not tried CoD4, BF2 or BF2142 as they all seem pretty similar. Also because I like FPS games to be FPS only and don't really like the idea of hopping into a tank/helicopter etc etc. But I guess this is mainly because I started online FPS with duke3d and went thru quake1,2 & 3. The main thing I loved back then was the community aspect.
Something which seems almost dead now :(

well i admit i have and still play css, bf2, cod4, tf2 at the moment. but im interested in battlefield bad company. i watched something a few days ago about it and it looked quite good. even if it is a little abstract for what im looking for.

problem is getting on to a good server in cod 4 and playing against good people . in hardcore mode i find there is more a community.

If Halo on a PC was a good thing maybe! Unfortunately... its pants!

Its a shame, I remember watching the first preview movies in 1999 or 2000 when it was still a PC game and it looked good back then!

Needs Halo 3.
