Went to turn the PC on before and although everything switches on fans spin up etc, I got no display. Switched it off and tried again. Opened the case and noticed on the motherboard the CPU_LED was red.

Tried making sure all cables etc are plugged in but I still get the same problem.

system is the following
ASUS M5A97 Evo rev 2
AMD FX8320
Avexir 8th
Power color radeon 270
Corsair cx500m psu

System has never been overclocke, it was working fine last night with no signs of any problems

Try disconnecting all the drives attached.

Use a single RAM stick at a time.

See if it will then at least enter the BIOS.

There is also a memOK button on the board that maybe worth pressing.

If you can try the PSU+gfx card from it and maybe ram, then that leaves CPU or board at fault and most likely the board.

I will try the PSU & Gfx card from the other PC. Not sure if i will be able to try the ram as i think its DDR2.

Will let you know how i get on with it, thank you for the help :):)

Ive not done any bios updates to it, i also tried taking the CPU out of the socket and putting it back in and still get the same problem.

At the min, i have all the cables etc disconnected from it, ive also removed the motherboard battery to leave it over night, i cant think of anything else to try.

Update on this.

Had more time today to fully check and recheck things, swapping parts etc.

Tried the Corsair PSU in my other PC - and that wont boot.

Put the PSU from the other PC into this PC - this time it started to boot (thinking about it, yesterday i was in a bit of a rush when i was testing i pos didnt have everything connected corectly.

put the old corsair PSU back in and it fails to boot.

got the other PCs psu back in now and im using the PC to post this.

So it looks like its some sort of fault with the corsair psu. it under 1 year old so ive sent a webnote to ocuk to see what they say.
