Hi all,

I have just installed a new cable set to my PC, its a Ryzen 7 3800x, RTX 3080, Corsair RM850x (from 2018). I have just installed the Corsair made type 4 compatible cable set (image below) which checking on the corsair website and the box says its compatible with my PSU.

Now the PC is no longer turning on at all, I didnt touch the front panel connectors and I have made sure they're all still connected correctly. There is an RGB section of my motherboard (ASUS x570-F gaming) which usually is lit up even if the PC is off and this also no longer turns on. I double checked all the connectors are seated fully but still no luck.

Anyone have any idea where to look or what to look at next? I unfortunately dont have another PSU on hand to check with.

Okay, so plugged the original cables back in and same issue. So the cable kit has either killed my PSU or killed my motherboard. Thats a bummer right before christmas.

Even tried a different kettle lead in a completely different plug too.

Well on a positive note, the PC now looks much nicer with the new cable set compared to the original cables.

Just need to get some black fans for the CPU cooler and maybe spray paint the top layer of the cooler to black it out.

I'd have given it a good clean first, before adding the cables for extra bling. It rather spoils the look. I also would have run the GPU power cables directly under the card, rather than to the right, if possible with your case and untangled them a bit. Also, the solid part of the cable combs would have been towards the back so they can't be easily seen. I spent about a couple of hours doing mine recently. I'm still not fully satisfied and will be giving them another go over at some point.

Not trying to be rude, but giving some possible pointers.
I know it does need a bit of a clean, I’m slowly doing it as a WIP as I work long hours a lot of days so I’m not always able or awake enough to do it in one go :D

When you swapped the 24 pin cable, maybe you dislodged the USB cable enough to cause a short.

I did look at the board connector and there’s no sign of any damage or such in the port that’s visible, I’m going to wait until the new panel arrives and give it a test from there. If it still does it then I know the motherboard is borked for the type c front
