Hi all..

got a problem,hope you can help.pc's booting ok (i think)but then getting a pc no signal message on tft then in shuts downs to stand by..last time i had this i'm sure i had to connect pc to a crt and reset refresh rate??
i now don't have a crt so i'm a little lost as to what to do?

any help greatly appreciated
 
im not sure if this will help as i dont know much about monitors but try checking that your lead is in properly and if that dosnt work then try checking your graphics card is in properly :D

thx..i've tried both and swopped lead too spare dvi slot..no luck..

btw..my gpx card is dvi and the tft is d-sub so i use a adaptor
 
Try starting Windows up in safe mode. This should allow you to lower the graphics resolution and refresh rate, allowing you to boot up into Windows properly and adjust the settings there.
 
Probably wont be able to as it loads the default windows drivers! then when you reboot you have the same problem as it goes to your normal drivers. Had this problem, turned out to be the drivers in windows had defaulted to some random resolution/refresh - 2 choices

1. put a pci graphics card in, reset all the drivers in windows (use nvcleaner or the such) , reboot, then it should work.

2. Fresh, full, re-install of windows - full format

With option 1, for some reason I had to leave the pci card in to allow it to work until I changed graphics card - now its fine.

Might not be something as simple as that, if it is i'd personally think borrowing a friends monitor for 5 mins is more sensible then reinstalling windows.

However if it works in safe mode, then indeed it could something as silly as that.

Are you using drivers for the monitor or is it plug and play?.....

Normally you can get away with removing the monitors listed in the device manager and rebooting. Worth a shot!
 
If its posting on the monitor then there is unlikely a problem with the monitor - could be psu when under load of windows startup not giving enough power to the graphics card - could be all manner of things - I'd try a re-install before ripping the case to bits.

I would have thought it was the graphics card driver with a forced refresh rate (think that was my problem) - no other way to go about it unless you have a pci card to run side by side

What graphics card is it (my prob was with a 6800
 
thx for the help...it's a 6600gt...i've uninstalled gpx card drivers and it booted ok.i then down loaded drivers and was 3/4 into installing them and same happened..i've read on other forums (seems this is qite common?)could be memory fault and/or cmos battery needs removing then refitting to clear...will try both!!!
 
Isnt the refresh rate stored in the graphics card drivers?? If you booted in safe mode, and uninstalled the drivers would that help??
 
tried the battery and swopped memory around-no luck.uninstalled drivers and removed card then refit-pc booted then "found new hardware",when asked where drivers were i specified cd rom and placed in the original xfx driver disc.it got 3/4 way through then the monitor went to stand by...AGAIN!!

i'm now not sure a fresh install of windows will be the answer??

any help greatly appreciated
 
Does the card have 2 monitor inputs?......

When i installed drivers on my x1800 it defaulted to 1 input as default, switching off the other (which the monitor was plugged into), so switching the input fixed that in a few seconds.

It confused me the first time and i couldnt get a display but that was only because the drivers defaulted 1 input over the other.
