Hi all,

For a while now my PC has refused to accept anything more than 4GB RAM. I am using Kingston HyperX DDR2 8500 CL5 in 2gb sticks.

Everything is fine with 4GB in but as soon as I try to use 8GB the PC just won't turn on. It doesn't seem to be any particular stick as they all work fine on their own!

Motherboard is a gigabyte P35 DS3R which can support 8GB and I use W7 64

Can anyone help me get the 8gb working?

The last time I tried to update the BIOS it said it wasn't compatible with W7 64. I'll check again though.

EDIT: Just downloaded the latest BIOS and it still says it's not compatible with 64bit :(

Don't update the BIOS through Windows, do it via Q-Flash. Stick the BIOS file on a pendrive, then reboot and press the "End" button on your keyboard during post (see page 68 of your motherboard manual). This will enter Q-Flash, and is a much safer way to update the BIOS.

Thank you, I'll try that!!

dodgy slot?

Nope, I've tried single sticks in all the slots :)
