Hey guys for some reason my pc over the last 2 years will only accept 3gig of RAM and i don't know why?! At first i just thought it was dodgy RAM, but i got 2x 2gig sticks yesterday and when i put them in my system won't boot up as always! On my mobo LCD clock thingy it comes up with "C1"?! Surely my motherboard is capable of 4 gig of RAM ¬.¬

Any help appreciated.

What's the difference between the blue and black RAM slots as i have a 2gig stick in a blue one and a 1gig stick in the other blue one?

Have you tried upping the Northbridge volts in the BIOS? This is sometimes required for increased RAM.

After a bit of research it looks like this is probably the problem! I know it's a lot to ask, but could you explain in a nice easy way how i can and what i should change my volts to in the BIOS?

Ok with my BIOS settings i have "Guru Utility" and my current voltage in "DDR2 SDRAM Voltage" is 2.10v and i can jump up by 5 up to 2.65v! Or i can change it from user define to automatic! Any ideas?

Can't help a lot as I don't have experience with that boards BIOS, but as above, something like NB volts or northbridge volts or as above, MCH is likely. Don't up it a lot. The DRAM voltage you saw is your RAM. Set this to what the modules are rated to. For DDR2 this is usually between 1.8 and 2.2 volts.

Ahh ok just that in Guru Utility it describes MCH Voltage as voltage for my PCI-E slots!

Ahh ok cheers buddy! Not gonna bother having another play around till tommorow evening when i get in from work so look out for this thread if your around as i might get stuck lol!

Righto before i start can i just confirm that the option highlighted in red in the below pic of my Guru Utility is the one i need to change?

And when you guys say put it up a notch it is currently set at 1.50v as you can see and it goes all the way up to 2.00v so i have 50 "notches" i can go up! I went up to 1.60v yesterday, but still nothing :(

It was doing it when the CPU was at stock last year and i really don't want to lose that overclock as my CPU is the main bottleneck of my system especially if it goes back to stock! Gonna update the BIOS tommorow from floppy disc as the patch notes show fixes for a few memory issues including "Fixed an issue where the system may not boot when installing memory on DIMM3.". So gonna try that first then if no luck still i will consider resetting :(
