First of all let me just say hello to everyone. You could consider me a new member but i've been lurking around these forums for a while. I used to have a forum account but can't remember my username or password so made this one. Here's the problem. See youtube video please -

I've checked the motherboard manual but it says nothing about beep codes in it. It runs off a phoenix bios though.

Anyway here are my computer specifications:
EVGA 650i Ultra Motherboard
E6750 CPU
4x1GB Geil DDR2 RAM
8800GTS 320MB Superclocked
500W Antec EarthWatts PSU

I've also noticed that when I power up, the PSU fan doesn't turn on, but power is supplied to the motherboard as the hard drives spin up, and other fans come on, as does the motherboard light.

I suspect it's the PSU but any advice would be great.
Thanks

the fan problem can be sorted by changing in the bios
can't view the vid as i have no sound :(

will look when @ home

check to see if theres any mice or rats inside, this seemed to be the problem with mine when it wasnt starting up. A mouse got stuck and he burned onto my blue LCD neon light. bits went into the fan.

unfortunately the problem isn't that simple Jamesdavid3. I'm pretty sure one of my hardware components has failed, but not 100% sure which one. I've also reseated everything, after taking out everything and reassembling. I've also tried to clear the CMOS but that didn't have much of an effect.

When I power up, the power LED on the case lights up, but turns itself off after about 20 seconds. Although the motherboard fans, graphics cards and hard drives continue to run. Also the keyboard does not light up after I press the power button. It might be worth noting that only 2 of the 4 motherboard fan connectors work, whereas previously all 4 would work.

I've checked all the simple things like is it plugged in. Everything is in and secure. This is not a new build either. I've been running the same system configuration (mostly) for the last 18 months. The only thing I did was recently fit a new CPU cooler, to replace the stock intel one.

silly question but you did apply the thermal paste correctly didn't you? if the answer to that is yes then try taking out every stick of ram but one and try and boot it up repeat this with each stick as there may be an error with one make sure the stick is in the first memory bank.. it may also be a keyboard probem if you say it doesn't light up as at post the keyboard should flash if it has a light. so try using a different keyboard if you have one. those would be the first things id try. if those tests fail the only other option would be a fault with the motherboard. report backw with your results and were see if theres anything more we can do

Yes I completely removed the thermal paste, and applied the one that came with the Noctua cooling system. Also the keyboard that I normally use is a USB keyboard, but I just tested it with a PS/2 Keyboard which I had lying around. The lights on that didn't flash up either. I also tested all of the RAM in every configuration possible (and how likely is it that all 4 RAM modules have gone at the same time?).

When I first got this problem the computer would boot with 2GB RAM which were placed in slots 3 and 4 but not 1 and 2. It would boot but actually freeze shortly after. Now it doesn't matter how much RAM I am using or which slots, it will just fail to start every time.

At first I thought it was the motherboard, until I realised that the fan on the rear of the PSU didn't come on. I don't think that is normal. Has anyone got an Antec EarthWatts PSU, and can confirm if the fan is supposed to start on a cold boot.

OK I have some news.

Antec have replied to my email saying that the PSU fan should always be spinning when the power is turned on! Should I get it RMA'd and wait a couple weeks for the new one, or buy a better new one now? If I go for a better power supply, what can you recommend? I'm only running the system in my sig. I don't really want to spend more than £80

LOL thanks. I was definately considering that. The only issue I've got is that it isn't a modular PSU. I was really looking for one of those.

It also seems like my Motherboard is broken too! I went over to test it with a friend and my parts work on his motherboard, so it looks like I need a PSU and Motherboard now :(

I can't wait around for the RMA to be processed, so I need to buy these things today or tomorow, and I think I'll sell the replacements that come back.

What do you think of the Corsair HX 520W?? Do you think it will be enough to power my system? I used one of those internet PSU calculators, and it said that I needed 505W, however on the form I added a few extra USBs than I normally use, an extra hard drive, and overclocked the CPU to 1.5V. With me being 100% honest it came down to around 470W.

Probably a bit late for recommendations now, but I made my order!

1 - Corsair HX-520W Modular PSU
2 - Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3 Motherboard

I hope it turns out to be a good overclocker.
