Hey

I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L with a Q6600 but I can't get it to boot

at first I believed the problem to be with CPU but am unsure as I have a replacement and the same is happening

It basically starts everything up but nothing shows & there is no diagnostic beeps at all just a click from the speaker when it first boots up.

I'm wondering if this problem could be RAM related?

The reason I've been thinking this is that next to the RAM slots it states 800/1066 while I only have 533

Could anyone please advise?

The RAM speed is DDR so 533 doubled is 1066 so unless im 100% wrong it should be fine. Try booting with just 1 stick and see what happens. you have all the power cables plugged into everything? Have you tried building outside the case incase of a short?

checked my mate's RAM but it isn't 800 or 1066 mhz so can't check

would anyone think this would be the problem before I waste £50 on some?

planning on getting some tomorrow if so

800/1066 is the maximum for the motherboard, 533 should be fine. Try a basic setup:-

Motherboard
CPU+Heatsink
1 x stick of memory
Graphics card
PSU

and see if it posts. If not, try building it outside the case.

If that doesn't work, try removing the graphics card and seeing if you get a POST bleep.
