Guys got a phonecall from my Gran this morning saying her home computer wasnt getting any internet access so being the wondeful grandson I am I called up to try and sort the problem, but I am stumped now as to whats wrong

It was all working fine yesterday, until this morning when she went to check her emails. The laptop works fine and can get the internet easily through the wireless.

I can only seem to narrow it down to a problem with the computer itself, I've checked the ethernet cable by connecting the laptop to it and it receives signals just fine. I've since brought the PC back to my house and plugged it into our network and its still not connecting. On the network map it just shows "PC - - - - - Unidentified Network - - X - - Internet"

Any ideas what I could do to try and fix it? Its a just a standard PC which you would pick up in a typical PC retailer on the high street nothing special and both routers are from Sky

Any thoughts appreciated :)

Make sure the network card/wireless adapater is set to DHCP and that it doesn't have a static IP assigned. Also check the router for allowed devices.

Installed some firewall from a random download? (I've seen a machine install McAfee before and for that to block DHCP traffic.)

Malware?
