The other week my pc started not detecting my 6870 on boot so the screen would just be blank. I thought this odd as the pc would all spin up and work like normal, so I plugged my tv into the mobo and sure enough that works like normal. I managed to get this workign again by re installing some drivers.

But now this is not working at all?

Any ideas? It was working fine for another week or so.

When I go into device manager the device is not listed at all and when I click scan for new hardware it finds it for a second before failing to install drivers for it. but the drivers are all ready on my pc.

I have drivers from 11.9 ( i think) up to the latest 12.6.

Sorry if I have not explained this well but it is really annoying now.

I have an i5 2500k at 4.4
asrock z68 extreme mobo
and an hd 6870

Thanks

I would go to programs and features and uninstall all Radeon/AMD drivers

then download driver sweeper to make sure they are all gone properly

restart

let windows install it for you as it always does in win7 and then download the latest drivers...

if this doesn't work, do the same steps, but use 11.9 drivers as they were ok it seems,

if this doesn't work, you may need a new card, or reinstall windows!

Ok thanks I will give that a try, oddly enough it started working again after one more install and restart, but I will definitely give that a go. Where is driver sweeper picked up from? an official site? I did just read a lot of people have trouble with it.
