pc not detecting my second hdd

i jus installed a new hdd into my system and connected the cables, but it doesnt show up in my computer

Does it show in the BIOS?

Have you gone into Disk Management in the Computer Manager console and formatted it?

Think it's right click my computer>manage>disk management then right click and initialize/format the new drive.. i think.

ahthankyou formatting now, says its only 284 gb though its a 320gb samsung disk :S

Yep thats it, had the same issue when i recently installed a second hdd, then it suddeny dawned on me that i had forgot to format it in disk management.
