So, after seeing this thread I thought I'd try and set up WMC on my PC so I could access everything from there rather than the individual web pages. Because I'm lazy like that.
Anyway, went through WMC setup, picture, and then audio. But after doing the audio setup (Which was simply saying what sort of connector I use and how many speakers there were) suddenly sound quality was rather hissy, kinda like when I had my microphone volume turned up too high, just in this case it wasn't. Strangely enough, disabling the microphone fixed this, but it wasn't the microphone at fault, since it still recorded everything at normal levels. After much head scratching, I decided to uninstall then reinstall the audio drivers.
So, uninstalled everything creative related from the control panel, then the device manager, restarted, downloaded and installed the latest drivers restarted, logged in... and nothing. Two black monitors with a mouse cursor. Left it like this for a couple of minutes, but nothing happened. ctrl+alt+delete brought up the general windows would you like to lock computer/log off/some other things/open task manager (Instead of just opening the task manager like it should). Tried logging off and on again, same thing. Tried opening the task manager, not very much is running (though strangely enough, several parts of the creative audio drivers are).
Hard drive light is occasionally flickering, but nothing's happening. And I'd rather not do a system restore, but I'm not sure what else to try. Explorer.exe is running, as is dwm.exe, if that matters.
