Hi there,

Im having some trouble with my PC I build about a month ago.

Specs:-

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz (Socket AM3)
Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 Glaciator+ 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Samsung EcoGreen F2 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Corsair XMS3 DHX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600C9DHX Twin3X
2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache (In RAID0)
Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir CPU Cooler
Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W ATX2.2 Modular SLi Compliant Power Supply

All running on Windows 7 Build 7100

All was fine up 'till a few nights ago when I started to experience random restarts. They were mainly during playing games and after a restart, there wasnt any crash information. And then last night it crashed and never restarted.
Every time I turn on the PC, I get nothing. No beeps, no sign of life from the monitor. Only the fans, HDD and GFX card power up.

Before the crashes, the CPU was running at about 45deg. And the videocard was only at about 70deg. So I doubt it was overheating.

Ive managed to test the HDDs, GFX card and PSU in another system. However, I do not have any way of testing the CPU, Mobo or RAM. So Im kinda stuck to what is broken.

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

P.S.

All using the latest drivers and the motherboard BIOS version was F4. I was going to update that, but I havent got a FDD drive anywhere :/

You can check the ram using memtest86 or just use one stick at a time in different bank. If you have tested everything else and the memory comes back as ok, then it's most likely to be a faulty mobo.

Make sure both 4pin and 24pin ATX cables are connected and are secure

+1

I'll check the cables tonight, however testing the memory will be quite hard if the computer wont even post, Ie I see a black screen, no BIOS information.

You'll need to try one stick at a time.. If it POSTs with one but not another, then you have a failed memory stick.. If it still fail to POST with both sticks then you have a faulty mobo.

Ah, I see. For some reason I thought the memory could only be used in pairs.

Thanks, I'll give that a go tonight.

Have you cleared the Cmos? it might help (didn't help me and i can't see why it would help you but worth a try). I had a very similar problem and it was a Gigabyte mobo too, i had to get a new mobo but i am going to get the old one sent in for repair and sell it on or something. Gigabyte offers a decent repair service, heres the Email:

Good luck!!

Right, just tried:-

Checked the P8 and power cables. Both OK. - Still nothing
1 DDR - Nothing
The other DDR - Nothing
Different PSU - Nothing
Again with either sticks of ram - Nothing

Looks like an RMA to Gigabyte :/
