Long story so please bear with me. I made a PC about 16 months ago.
Here is the spec:
M2N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard Wireless Edition
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 4600+ (AM2)
2 GB DDR2 Corsair Memory XMS2-6400 CL4
XFX Geforce 7900GT
A Couple of 120GB SATA hard drives
Thermaltake Purepower TWV 500W powersupply
All in an Antec P180 silver case.

This was my third PC ive made and it all worked fine.
In the last year ive added a better processor fan and gfx card fan. Still worked perfect.

In January i put Vista Home Premium on and it still worked fine.

Ive had some old hard drives and some external hard drives in and they have been fine. They have been in and out and havnt made a difference still worked fine.

Then i went away to University and left this PC in the care of my 16 yr old brother.
He claims "It was working fine and I turned it off one day, then the next day it would just not turn on."

So now the power switch does absolutely nothing. No beep, whir or anything. Im pretty clueless to be honest so i was hoping for some theories. The little green light on the motherboard is on though.

I have tried:
- A new power switch
- Different power cable
- I have removed all unnecessary components

Please step forward and give any suggestions. Im willing to try anything.

If the psu is dead then why does the mobo have a little green light that comes on when the psu is connected? Also how do i start the mobo with a screwdriver?
Thanks

The PSu probably still supplies some power, just not necessarily the rights ammounts at the right voltages. Jump starting is pretty easy, find the headers on the mobo where you would connect the power button and touch a screwdriver (or anything that conducts really) on both, just for a second and the PC should come to life
