hi all,

i brought a new ATI 4870 from here and put it in yesterday, today i ran the auto-tune feature in the software and during the tune my computer went dead, when i turn it on the power light comes on on my computer, and the LED's on the case fans blink when i push the button, but then stay off. i cant hear the PSU's fan running either, am i right in thinking that ive killed my PSU? it is a poor brand one, that i was going to upgrade tho.

is it likely the PSU is the problem, or something else in my computer?

thanks :)

For that price i would play safe and get a corsair psu as they have a good rep on here and other sites. Hopefully when your old psu blew it didn't take anything else with it and sadly some of the cheaper ones do have that habit so fingers crossed for you m8.

nah :( i was going to buy one on friday anyway , even if it diddnt go yesterday, hope it is the PSU thats gone and left the rest of the stuff ok tho.

I am not saying ocz are not safe i am saying that for that amount of money corsair are a slightly better bet i have had one ocz psu go on me and it took the mobo with it such things cause me to think twice. Fact is you are unlikely to have any branded psu be doa or blow very quickly but there are some brands that are better then others.
