Just got a new pc and set it all up, got windows 7 ultimate on it and just put all the patches on it, about 90 in all!

Anyway its not recognising any external hard drives that i plug into the usb ports. Other stuff i plug in is fine , keyboards, mice, webcam all ok.

Ive installed the driver software for the motherboard and that all seemed to go on ok. And downloaded the drivers for the hard drivers. One is a WD 2tb Mybook Essential and the other is just some generic 400gig thing. They both work fine on my other pc and laptop.

Any ideas/suggestions? I really need to get the WD working as that has all my steam games backed up on it :)

goto devices and printers on the start menu. is anything showing there with a yellow exclamation mark? if so, try right clicking and select troubleshoot.

and i assume these drives have been tested on the main ports on the motherboard itself and not through the front panel on your case??

bios enabled? i guess so as everything else i plug into them works fine.

Not sure what you mean by the main ports on the MB. Ive tried every usb port on the case if that helps. I'll check the triangle thing but nothing is showing up as a warning in the device manager window.

Main ports: back of the case, the front case ones attach via a cable so..

Do they show in disk management, the create a partition thing.
