PC not recognizing boot sequence...

Hey,

I am trying to reformat my pc but i cant seem to boot from cd.... the option just doesnt show up when i reboot the pc.

i have tried changing the boot sequence in bios, putting cd as first option ( even as all 3 options) but it doesnt seem to recognize the boot sequence. the reason i belive it doesnt is that even though i have not selected any of the options in the boot sequence to be floppy disk it still seems to try n boot from floppy as first option.

once it does not fidn the floppy ( have none installed ) it shows some sort of error , asks me to press F1 and continues to boot from harddrive, the first time i remember this happening ( the floppy disk thing ) was after i reset my bios options to optimized default when i was trying to fix another problem .... that fixed the previous problem but left me with the floppy thing at start up which isnt really a problem since i jst have to press f1 and it boots as its supposed to.

however as ive mentioned now i cant boot from cd nor does it seem to recognize the any boot sequence i save in bios , continuing on trying to boot from floppy n then on to harddrive,

any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated

so just to recap , my main problem is not being able to boot from cd , however the the fact that my machine does not seem to recognize any boot sequence i tell it to do is probably what i need fixed in the first place since thats probs whats causing the no boot from cd thing.

Sorry if this is wrong forum, just really need to fix this!

No worries. Its kinda hard to explain without pictures, so ill find a guide - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

You will want to scroll down to the 'motherboard jumper' section, or 'battery' section. Both pretty much do the same thing, but the jumper one is normally most effective.

ok firstly thx for the info but still no luck unfortunately... i took out my cmos battery , left it for a few minutes n replaced it... it deffinately reset my bios setting but nothing shows up to boot from disk still.... which makes me think the bios just doesnt recognize the cd rom i guess.... it does rec ognize it once i boot into windows though im able to read cd's n what not. is it still possible that the cd rom drive is somehow faulty ? any ideas on this r greatly appreciated thx

*edit* I have a realtek boot agent installed apprently, could this in any way be interferring with anything?
