PC not restarting

My computer has recently started playing up. I've been leaving it on for longer than I normally do (24-48 hrs at a time) and it started to stop restarting properly; as in I clicked restart then after shutting down the fans are still spinning but the BIOS screen doesn't come up so I turn it off by holding down the power button for a few secs. Then I turn it back on again, bios screen flashes up then I get a screen saying somethng along the lines of: "last boot failed, press F1 to continue or press delete to enter bios" so i enter the bios, dont change anything, come out and it restarts as normal.

However now its started to happen all the time, it never restarts properly (it still does it if I click shutdown; the next time I turn it on the same problem occurs). So this time I had to go into the bios and lower the fsb down to 1400 from 1500 giving 2.8ghz instead of 3.

Any ideas why this happening all of a sudden? Have I broken some hardware? Btw the overclock was 12 hours Orthos stable and I hadnt had any problems for the last couple of months. Temps are still fine as well.

Thanks

sounds similar to an issue i used to have and generally always resolved it by taking a bit off the overclock.

not sure why it should happen all of a sudden, have you run memtest across the memory or at least locking the memory to default speed and seeing if you still have problems.

what memory timings/voltages you got set up.

memory

I got that with my P4 2.66 Northwood, it used to fail to boot. I eventually had to set it to stock, and leave it alone.

I tried new memory, new HDD , new GFX card, new PSU. Nothing helped so I attributed it to the Mobo. To confirm my suspicions, I popped the cpu into an asus P4P800SE board and was able to clock it no problems.
