I moved my PC home from uni yesterday and it's refusing to give any kind of a video output to my monitor. I have no idea what could be wrong with it but the only thing I can think of is that it was left in the car for a few hours in the cold.

It's been left over night to return to room temperature but now it's just not working. I've left it on perhaps in the hope it will warm itself up a bit and I've looked inside for any cables that have come loose or any physical damage that may have occured but I can't see any.

Thanks for your help

random question but it isn't a Dell GX270 is it ?

No, sorry.

I'll try re-seating the VGA card, although I can't think that'll be it. It's annoying not knowing which component isn't working.

If you move a PC and it stops working, it's likely to be a cable or card that is out of place. And if there is no display, then the video card is high on the list.

When you switch it on, do you hear in power up? If so, you you get the POST screen on the monitor or nothing at all, just blank? If you switch your monitor on, does the standby light come on? Have you checked the fuse in the monitor cable plug? Can you try your monitor on another pc? If when you switch the pc on and you get two quick bleeps, this would indicate an issue with the VGA card. It wont hurt to power down the pc and anti static yourself and remove and replace the vga card.

When it's powered on the monitor is completely blank but it's in standby and says "Good" when I run a test. It's receiving a signal but not showing anything at all. I don't get the POST screen or anything nor do I get two beeps.

It looked like the graphics card had become a bit loose so I took it out completely and put it back in again but powering on again there's no change :(

Oh, and I just tried my laptop on the monitor and it works fine so I guess that rules the monitor out.

Edit:

Plugging in USB keyboard and mouse - keyboard lights don't go on and optical mouse light doesn't either.

Reseat your RAM ;)

Thank you, it worked! I'm not sure if it was the RAM or me forceably pushing the graphics card in further than it might but either way I'm back in action :D
