pc not working

Hi guys, last night i clicked on Sleep mode (by mistake) as usual i have to turn the pc off manually by holding down the power button (using vista 64), when i went to turn it back on again it doesn't work. It boots up and then the hard drive light won't be on after initially being so. Is the HD broken? :eek:

So whilst its booting can you see your screen? If so is it displaying boot sequence properly?

unplug all your peripherals apart from keyboard/mouse. hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
and try again
does it post at all?
if you really want to test out the hardware get a copy of windows PE bootable from someone and you can check on the installation and hardware

I tried the above, no luck. The hardrive light doesn't flash at all? But im sure i can hear it.

If you unplug absolutely everything and just boot an empty mobo do you get the corect error codes to say no RAM/ no CPU?

Im not to sure i should be doing the above incase i break anything. I think its the hard drive , i cant hear it at all and the activity light is never on. Forgot to mention we had two power cuts last night, but it was working after these until i tried to restart it.
