Hey fellow OCUK'ers

I have been having quite a strange problem with my PC lately. From button press to getting into windows after everything has loaded takes about 3 minutes and I'm started to get a little worried / annoyed because my system is relatively new, barely half a year old and it seems to be performing slow and crashing a lot of the time.

I have a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (7.2krpm) 103SJ HDD. My hard drive is barely half full (512GB used of 931GB), only 5 programmes run at startup which is barely anything, my CPU is a 6 core @ 4ghz as said in my signatures so it really cannot be anything else holding the system back but the hard drive.

Is there anything you guys could suggest to help increase HDD performance? do something on the PC or to the HDD itself? Paging files? advance boot? etc?

I really could do with some help here because crashing and lagging is doing my head in :(

Thanks in advance guys.

Could probably bad RAM? Try testing it with memtest86+ to rule it out.
Use HD Tune to check your HDD's health.
OC could probably be unstable?

Will be sure to test that program on my RAM now.
HD Tuned my HDD before, it's fine.
Done a 6 hour prime95 and intel burn test on my cpu and it's stable.

Are you sure its not your hard drive spinning up? I have an SSD as my OS drive, so my other hard drives (same as yours) need to start up before I can access files of them
