Hey Guys,

Well, since i'v moved my pc to a new room it has been playing up like mad. It all seems to be down to the internet though?

One hing i noticed is that it will connect to the internet when facing side ways on my desk, but will fail to pick up any connection when facing forwards (like normal)??

I have it side ways at the moment, but when im on the internet it is running really slow, and every 1 or 2 seconds my computer freezes for half a second? For example i will run my mouse across the screen and it will be stationary, skip halfway, then appear at the end. Very annoying!

Also I noticed when watching vids on youtube they skip and my speakers are making a buzzing noise when it happens :(

Please help!

Just noticed this happens whenever I am connected to the internet, not just when on a browser! Also when I disconnect it seems the problem almost disappears so def. the internet as far as i can tell :(

Edit: Im using a wireless card (internal)

I wouldn't have expect that moving the system alone would cause issues like freezing the PC. What sort of connection were you getting before moving and now? Are you running the latest drivers for your wireless card?

It could be it (the wireless card) has developed although in truth quite unlikely. Open the system up and make sure everything else is securely fastened down and fitted, such as CPU cooler, RAM, power connectors.

If all else fails, get yourself a pair of 200MB/s homeplugs, abolutely brilliant compared to wireless.

I was getting my regular wireless connection of about 7-800kb/s... Latest drivers I think I have but I will re-check...

I re-did everything on my desk this morning, including securing all my hardware making sure nothing was loose, worked for an hour before the problem came up again :/

Edit: Nope, still got it... And I think homeplugs are a bit out of my price range atm!

as mentioned check everything is seated properly and secure.

what sort of position have you moved to, in relation to your modem/router compared with the original position.

any extra walls, internal wiring, piping around that may cause signal issues ?

Have you tried simply re-installing the wireless network adapter? Is it a USB or internal one?

Anyway go to device manager, right-click and select uninstall but don't remove the driver. Now right-click the computer name at the top of device manager and select scan for hardware changes. It will re-install the driver for your network adapter (which resets wifi settings and deletes wifi profiles).

Reconnect to your wifi network and enter any security keys, it could be a borked driver that's taking up a lot of CPU time randomly.

It's only in the next room, about a 3 meter change... It has my drum kit in front of it though, would that affect it?

And I will try that philds

Also I noticed in the task manager it shows my connection and it only has 0-0.1% network utilization max?

http://192.168.1.254 possibly... If not try 192.168.0.254 and then 192.168.1.1 etc depends if it's set to defaults or not.

Login is admin and password is on the back, you'll be presented with a web interface, navigate the tabs until you find wireless section, change the channel to 1, 5, 9 or 13.
