Hi,
I have an Acer PC which after almost exactly a year started with the problems listed below.
1. CMOS battery died.
2. Win XP locks up randomly.
3. New CMOS battery (SONY) died after a month or two.
3. When locked will only turn off with power cable
4. When powered off from a lock will not turn on for around 5 minutes.
5. The PC sometimes seems to trip the house circuit breakers which will not reset until I turn off the PC extention lead.
The only thing that has changed was me replacing the ATI 2400 graphics card for a Nvidia 8800 GTS. Not sure if it was before any of these problems or between syntoms 1. and 2.
I am trying to work out if it is the extra load on the PSu from the graphics card upgrade or if the motherboard is faulty.
Any suggestions
RB
