PC pretty loud, maybe too loud?

Hiya. I have a reasonably new pc, about 2 months old now, and I never used to notice when I was at uni how loud it was because say, I would watch stuff from it from a distance, if I was close to it I would probably have music playing or have my window open (live near the roads) so it was never completely quiet, maybe a few times. I'm back home for a bit now and my rooms pretty small, went to watch a movie on it but couldn't help notice how loud it was, it was annoying and kind of distracting.

I have

# AMD Quad Core Phenom II X4 965
# 2 x 2Gb 240Pin DDR2 800Mhz
# ATX Black Gaming Tower Case
# 750w ATX Power Supply
# AMD 770 Chipset
# ATI Radeon HD5770
# Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB

There's been a build up of dust on the front of the computer reasonably frequently, I am yet to clear the inside of dust yet, but I was just looking at a site that said you should clean out your comp every 6 months or so, showing pics of dusty computers and mine is nowhere near as dusty as what I was seeing on the site, so made me wonder if it's something else.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Better case fans?

If they are 80mm then the clearance section of this site has the excellent Sharkoon fans for £7 each.

Still using the stock heatsink? Bin it for a Titan Fenrir.

Thanks for the replies. Hmm.. I don't really have the money for a Titan Fenrir right now to be honest, but at least your guesses are probably right, that I just need better fans. Was kinda hoping I wouldn't have to spend more money :(

I was unaware of the AMD cool and quiet actually, I'll give that a go in the morning. The sharkoon fans sound good and are at a good price, are they best I could get for around that price, concerning efficiency as quietness?

Monkeynut it's a cheap one unfortunately :( Couldn't afford a better one at the time.

Thanks

They are exceptional at moving air and being quiet.

There are bigger versions, just not in this site.

If your case does take a 80mm size, then they are hard to beat at the price.

But, I'm sure most of your noise is from the stock heatsink.

The sharkoon fans are very good, ive used the 1000/2000 rpm and the modular se 400-1200 rpm models (quite hard to find). They shift a lot of air and noise is pretty low, well except for the 2000 rpm 120mm versions, thankfully i had them on a fan controller.
