Just need to run this by you guys.

c: - ssd
d: - ssd

Thursday evening my pc locked up, very rare but ok, rebooted and an hour later I get a lock and a blue screen.
On rebooting C drive has gone, powered off reset cables powered on and everything seemed fine for an hour or so then pop, C goes again.
Friday morning I get an image of C just in case.
remove 2nd nvidia 680 to ease power load(just in case) and give access to drive cables
Swap cables on drives around
C goes again
change ports of drives around
C goes again
**assume it's the c drive ssd faulty, remove and replace with WD velociraptor and restore image of c
C drive disappears
Assume it's the sata 3 ports then and swap all drives to sata 2 ports
D drive disappears

At this point I'm assuming it's something further up where the sata 2 and sata 3 ports come together. Just interesting that it almost always seems to be the SSD's going.

anything else anyone can think of to narrow it down?

If you look at the SSD connections when it is powered on, can you see a green light? If there is an issue with the drive, there will be a red light instead.

Motherboard is and Asus P8Z68 deluxe gen 3, drives are Crucial CT256M4Solid State Drive2 256GB M4 Solid State Drive.
Not updated anything fw/bios wise as it's all been working sweet as a nut for over a year so can't see it being that.
Snips...will take a peek

I'd seriously look at updating the firmware if you can......maybe too late however.

There was a problem with M4 similar to this on firmwares before 000f i believe.
was a firmware to fix it.

yes, i think i read you had to do a procedure with Ahci to make it pick up again it was a 5000+ hour m4 bug, firmware 0309 or later fixed it.

Yep think it was, just found that link and the one it follows onto myself. Downloaded the firmware update and ran it expecting it to tell me what my current revision was and would I like to do this, but nope...BANG updated.
Oh well see how it goes 8)

edit. if I have no luck with that I'll go through the power cycle routine tomorrow.

edit2. just checked hours used and it's 5400 which is around the period people are having the issues....hmmm

Latest firmware is 040H BIG jump from my 009.

Just swapping back 2nd ssd to update that. /crosses fingers ;)

edit. just updated 2nd ssd and rebooted back to using both now as C and D, will see how it goes, if it still plays up I'll do the power reset thing crucial suggest tomorrow.

Well it was dropping a drive after about an hour, been two hours now and both SSD's are still humming.
Sounds like some ones owed a big sloppy kiss ;)

No drive loss for three hours this morning so I think its sorted, thank you very much :)

Troops, your lucky I've got an artificial leg so I won't be able to catch you ;)
