PC Problem USB

Hey,

During start up my keyboard and mouse work, I can go into bios and the red laser light on my mouse is on, however as soon as the Windows loading bar comes up in start up (Windows XP) all the USB's die and don't work. Any idea? I really need to get onto my computer! :|

PC isn't the one in my signature. The motherboard is a Asus P5W, with 1 harddrive, a Ati x1900 512mb graphics card and a 700Watt Targan PSU just for your info.

try to running on safe mode. and see whether it makes any different

I connected the HD I need to get onto, to my other PC as a secondary harddrive.
I got onto the harddrive and it says that I can't access the desktop because I don't 'HAve permission.' because apparently the HD has a password on it and i'm not that admin. (Even though it's my god dam computer!) and there is no where to put the password in to unlock the folder.

What the hell can I do?!
