I'm in dire need for finding what is wrong with my PC and hope some of you can help!
Heres my problem, classic case of it turning itself off.. except not so classic at all, infact.. extremely odd. What happens is this:
I open a game, play it and my PC will last from 10seconds to 1hour depending on the game and just turn off. TF2 for example lasts 10seconds, L4D, FSX, WoW (when I used to play) will last for an hour, after that hour I usually turn the game off myself to make it not turn off.
Now heres the major problem of it all, once its turned off like that I have to wait 2 hours to turn it back on, because when I turn it on the fans/lights come on inside the case but it wont even begin to start POST (I know this because I have the nVidia 680i motherboard that has a kind of "POST checker" on it in the form of 2 letters/numbers.. will display a combination if somethings wrong... Well it just says -- as in it hasnt even started.
Sometimes even when I turn my PC on first thing in the morning it won't work, when this happens I have to wait 10mins sometimes or 2hours like normal.
It kind of has a little twist though, say for example it cut out at 6pm, I'd have to wait till 8pm for it to work, however if I got too impatient and decided to try it at 7pm instead of waiting the full 2 hours it will sort of "reset" the time so I'd have to wait till 9pm ¬_¬.
This has been happening for half a year to a year now and its driving me insane, I have no idea why I havn't asked about this on a forum before now, the longest this PC has been off because of this problem has been 48hours, I've asked many friends in the past (all of whom were unprofessional) and each one basically says "It's definitely *insert a different component for each person here*" I have no means of narrowing it down to what it actually is and have no money to replace my whole computer trying! So please if you could give any help and save a poor computer from meeting the window soon
!
Specs if it helps:
nvidia nforce 680i SLI mobo
Intel 2.4GHz Quad core processor (Akasa AK-961 cooling fan)
6GB RAM
nvidia Geforce 8800GTS GFX card
OCZ ModXStream 780W PSU
Antec 900 case - plenty of fans for cooling
Self built PC worked fine for the first year.
Thanks for your help!
