Alright people here seeking some advice, for the past 4 days i've been having a lot of bother with my system. At first i was getting spammed with "Com surrogate errors" by the 100 as in they were popping up a lot faster than i could close them down - I was unable to do anything due to the speed my computer was running at while being spammed.

After reformatting my computer seemed dandy for a few days then all of a sudden i started to get com surrogate errors once again doing certain things loading certain programs, after it started to happen on a few of my programs i use on a regular basis i decided to reformat once again.

so i got everything reinstalled and today when going to watch a movie i noticed my VLC stopped responding, i checked real player windows media player nothing was working, Skype loads but asoon as i put on webcam, it goes to not responding. Dota wont run either, although World of warcraft will.

I really have no Idea whats wrong - I've tried downloading reimage but it locks up asoon as i start a scan forcing me to restart my system.

I have a feeling this is a hardware issue but as to what - I have no idea..

I'm running windows 8 pro.

Suggestions please?

Ill do this in 5 mins - I was just looking into the side of the case just now and im sure there are normally more "lights" on - either the mobo has less glowing or the ram i have is duller not sure yet.. any ways ill try this and get back to you thanks.

Just ran in safe mode, my vlc is working although my skype is just going instantly to not responding. Could this really be a driver issue, i mean i've reformatted and reinstalled current drivers 3 times within the last 4 days and the problem still stands.

I actually have some spare ram, i guess i can swap that over and see if it helps at all - I'd be gutted if it has gone spent about 220 on it like under a year ago :/

So you think its worth trying to put different ram in?

Wazza, i tried that last time around - i followed the instructions but it never stopped the spamming at all even after reset. (there were like 130 background processes running called "COM Surrogate"

So i've spent some time backdating drivers, trying a bunch of different processes to see what crashes and what does crash. From what i can see backtracking my drivers has done nothing at all :/

I'm at the stage when i m just aimlessly going to go buying parts to replace my current and just pray that it works.. Starting with Mobo probably.

thanks for the advice.

Skype wouldnt work in safe mode anyways as there is no connection right? If you think its maybe something left on the drive causing you problems them you should cmd wipe it in another machine just to make sure it's 100% clean and then start from there.

I've never actually done a cmd wipe before, is it pretty straight forward - ill check it out on google, but certainly worth trying.

when you say in another machine, you cant do it in the current system?

cheers.

Are you overclocking?

I've not manually clocked, although the mobo's oc button is active - so its clocked i guess.

Can you try a different HDD with a new OS install?

I can do that, its currently on an ssd i can try installing it on the old HDD

Have you ran a chkdsk yet?

Dont even know what that is so i guess not, ill google it!

Still need to try the cmd wipe, not long home from work.

Okay so, another update.

I've ran the chkdsk - apparently there were no problems and everything is running sweet.

I've also ran the cmd wipe how ever there seems to be no progress on the problem after this either.

I'm currently in the process of running System file checker - once ive done this if the problem still stands, i guess i should reformat again but this time install the windows on a different hard drive while MANUALLY installing every driver, and checking along the way to see what works and what does not.

Sound like a plan?

Well, update guys - I went to reformat the computer and fresh install all the drivers to the latest versions manually.. I totally never noticed I installed back onto my SSD >.> lol

ALTHOUGH!!!! I could be wrong - all my drivers are not completely downloaded yet have a few more to go, Skype is working with the webcam right now we will see what the restart has to offer and ill keep you all updated.

I appreciate all the help you've been giving me!

Ripshod, I've been installing with the disk that was given to me by OCUK bud so don't think that's been the issue - thanks for the comment and time though (:
