I am posting on behalf of a friend:

I put a friends portable HDD in via USB. Vista installed the drivers for the device to work. I copied about 11 large items from his hdd to mine and during one of the copies that was still in progress i double clicked on a file on the HDD to see what it was. I use VideoLAN (VLC player). VLC said than an update was available so i said okay, it deleted the old player and installed the new version and since then, my pc crashed. I had to manually turn off the PC,hold the power button in etc. After restart my friends HDD was longer recognised when plugged in, i can not access the internet, clicking on IE8 or firefox, nothing comes up. My Nvidia driver is now disabled and wont enable and will not update via any download. Windows restore point to yesterday didn't not help either

Any suggestions?
