PC problems :(

Well were to start.

Started back when the pc would freeze up and would not be able to do anything, all the fans lights and screen still worked. This would happen fair few times, crash every few minutes to few hours or even days. After it freezing the pc would not boot up, apart from all fans and lights starting, just no bleep sound on boot up and nothing on screen this would happen for from 10minutes to an hour with it not booting, then after that would boot up fine with not changing anything.

So did the usual test as much as I could but still same problem. So sent off the mother board for an rma seeing as the temps for all parts cpu, graphic card etc was perfectly normal. Motherboard came back and was full tested and with no problems. Then after that sent the whole pc off to get tested. The place which tested came back with saying it was graphic card problem ( but they did have problems seeing as the pc would not crash for them until the last day they had it). So got an rma done on that with BFG, who sent back whole new card.

Then after say 4 minutes after installing the card the pc goes again, then again after few boot ups and now same thing will not boot. Just really stuck now and not to sure were to go next

So question be does anyone have an idea on what it could be my problem? Tested all parts apart from the cpu and power supply.

AMD 64 3700 San diego
Asus A8n-Sli
Geil 2gb (2x1gb)
BFG Geforce 7800GT OC
Hiper 580w
WD 350gb

From the first paragraphs i would say it was ram problems from the end paragraphs i would say psu problem

I hate problems like these. :s

Download and run Memtest86
No errors = OK

Download and run Prime95 (stress testing only)
Run a torture test (max heat generation) and no errors = Good.

If you get errors on either of them, there's a hardware problem.

I take it machine is at stock speeds?

Tried monitoring voltages? Monitoring programs are OK, no match for a multi-meter, but can tell you rough CPU/Mem Voltages.
Make sure they are not fluctuating excessively (more than +/- 5%)

Can try running ATI Tool - See if any errors crop up there...

PC freezing is usally the CPU. (Blue screens -> Memory)
But can be many other factors.

Have you checked your event log for the times this happens?
(Start -> Run -> eventvwr.msc)
Ran a chkdsk on your C:?
(The OS not being able to access a system file can cause the freezing behaviour)

But if PC doesn't boot afterwards, definitely sounds like core hardware issues.
(CPU/MEM/MOBO)

Any chance you can borrow a mate's PSU?
Or use a different PSU from another machine?
