Hi all,

Having some major issues so wanted to get your opinions before probably purchasing some new kit.

Basically I have been having some random stability issues for a short while. Originally the system started stalling and crashing frequently which was linked to a faulty storage drive (at the time). I purchased a new drive copied most of the info over and seems to be trouble free for a few weeks

About a couple of weeks later my system beings to freeze with audio loop during game and forcing me to restart. Recently I had to unplug the graphics card and reinsert it to get the graphics to load.

Concerned I then performed tests with prime95 and furmark for a considerable period of time and no errors or overheating being reported. No problems for about another week when today I got the surprise freeze with audio loop. This time though the system does not post for a while and now I can only see graphics when I am actually in Windows. I can not see anything until the windows screen (the monitor was forced on generic non-pnp screen which I managed to change to BENQ but even then my options are very restricted).

I am really stumped as to what could be causing this and am not sure whether it is the motherboard (static) or whether other components are also coming along for the ride. If I bought a new bundle would I be at risk if I plugged in my current graphics card?

Any help is greatly greatly appreciated!

After having the stability issues I flashed the bios to the latest version to see if that would sort out the issues. As it did not I reset the settings to default (sorry should have mentioned)

Is there anyway I can find out considering I can not access the bios at all?
 
you can try clearing the cmos,power off/remove motherboard battery and leave out for 30mins,put back in and see if the bios screens come up,beware this will wipe any oc/bios settings and set them to default

what psu are you using as the 580's are power hungry cards

you can look in easytune/voltage1 to see power on qpi/vtt and dram voltages
 
I attempted the clearing of the CMOS. Bios settings were at default anyways

Right Voltages are as follows (please note these are likely all default) I amended original post to show corsair 750W PSU : -

CPU PLL 1.8V
QPI/VTT 1.175
CPU VCORE 1.26875
DRAM 1.52
DRAM TERM 0.75
PCIE 1.5
QPI PLL 1.1
IOH CORE 1.1
ICH I/O 1.5
ICH Core 1.1

can you get into the bios? if so set the pcie#1 as first display this could be why your not seeing the bios screen

then id set dram v to 1.65v

and id set qpi/vtt to 1.32v(may need more) anywhere from 1.32v-1.35v start with 1.32v first though

then see if its any better regarding freezing/lock ups

EDIT: actually with 12gb at 1600mhz i needed 1.3750v qpi/vtt minimum so with 16gb you might need even more you would need to test
 
Thanks for the replies.

I cant view the display at all until I get into the Windows Login Screen so I have no idea how to get into the bios (tried everything) Could it be that it has reset to PCI somehow?

If I reboot I get the blank screen until Windows Login at which point all my graphics settings go back to zero (Generic Non PNP Monitor and unable to raise my resolution above 1024 x 768 unless I force it in custom settings). All in all horribly frustrating and really got no clue now :(

Is it worth purchasing new kit and even then would any possible problems from the graphics card be passed onto the new motherboard cpu ram bundle?

If I try and raise the voltages in easytune the program crashes ... Got latest bios graphics cars updates etc
 
Miraculously after updating to the newest version I was able to access the bios. (UPDATE Only with HDMI Plugged in DVI does not work in bios) All my settings are completely default and I must admit I have no idea what the optimal ones are. If I run the system in HDMI windows seems to give less hassle. If I run in DVI it keeps insisting my monitor is Generic non-PnP and gives hassle changing settings

Im just curious now really as to whether the motherboard might be having issues and now the graphics card has been affected
 
its probably low dram or qpi/vtt voltage if its locking up in games,whats it using at the mo for those voltages?
 
Everything is at base level clock wise as when I flashed the bios the whole layout changed and the OcUk Pre settings were lost completely. Voltages are as above

CPU PLL 1.8V
QPI/VTT 1.275
CPU VCORE 1.26875
DRAM 1.52

QPI PLL 1.1
IOH CORE 1.1
ICH I/O 1.5
ICH Core 1.1

I have increased the QPI and not really tested the system too much as of yet. Strange though that the DVI input gives grief
 
Was it an overclocked system? I didn't want you to lose your settings

It can only be a BIOS issue that DVI isn't working with that card,you can try with 1.31v qpi/vtt and set dram voltage to what's printed on your ram
 
Dont worry about the settings :) was lost when i updated the bios when i started getting issues stability wise a while ago.
