Hi,

My mates g/card died. So he sent it off for repair/replacement.

Its been weeks away and no responce so he went and bought a new g/card to day so he can use his PC.

It was the same g/card.

Plugged in and booted up PC and said no windows installed. It seems the BIOS resetted and he lost RAID set up. So I set that back up but it still wouldnt boot. So I reinstalled windows but it kept going wrong.

Finally got it almost done then it came up with 0xC0000005. This says it could be RAM. So running a test on that.

Why would putting a new g/card in cause all these problems?

it shouldnt, maybe it was more than gfx card dying. Try removing all but one stick of RAM and booting, if that doesnt work swap for one of other sticks, maybe one of them has failed

I have found one bad ram stick. I am trying to get memtest to boot off a CD as I perfer that to the windows mem test.

But I got windows to install on one good stick.

Seems like maybe g/card and ram died at the same time.

What could that be, electrical spike of something?

Tested all 4 sticks, all ok.

Tested upto 3 sticks together and ok.

Tested all 4 and not ok.

Tested the last one I put in (as i assume this one made it fail) on its own and ok, in all slots.

Going to revert back to the three good ones and give it back to him one stick short, lol.

Dont think its the mobo.

So is it one of the sticks? or one of the DIMMs on the board? If you put one stick in a slot and try it in each slot does it work all 4 times? or is one of the slots knackered?

all sticks work in all slots individually and all sticks work on their own.

But put all four in and they dont work, lol.

But 3 sticks will work.

you could try bumping the voltages a bit in the bios, as all 4 are in use the board needs more voltage, try raising both DRAM and NB voltages a notch or 2
