PC Racing Game based on GT1/GT3 Cars

Im looking for a racing game that is based on the FIA GT Championships (or as close to as possible).

Ideally GT3 tbh, but id also play GT1... though it dosent have to be this seasons drivers/liveries/tracks etc. But it should contain a realistic season with points etc

Im sure ive seen something similar, but when I tried it, I couldnt be half the cars I wanted... basically I want it to be a simple pick up and play ie select the AMG Mercedes and team and then get out there and race.

Graphics dont have to be super amazing, but damage model would be nice... AI again challenging, but as im on a pad im not an expert racer anyway... i just like decent and challenging single player championships.

Mods would be OK, assuming I can get my hands on the original game that has been modded.

GTR2 has hundreds of mods so you are sure to find what you are after. My GTR2 folder is 21GB

Not sure what it will be like with a pad, as I use a wheel.

Hmm this sounds good, ill see if there is a download site with it on... what would you recommend as mods and what site to get them from?

GTR2 can be bought pretty cheaply now adays from any site, its fairly old but still a big appeal as mentioned earlier there is RACE07 and GTR-evolution which is different classed GT cars and comes with Nordschleife, but also good about the RACE games and add ons as there other race classes available. Caterhams, camaro, the WTCC, minis, 1987 touring cars, and road models too and lots more worth checking out.

Community mods and updates are heavily supported for nearly all racing games here -

they also host dedicated servers to bring best race experience on multiplayer available.

And it is a racing simulator

but will take some getting used to

Shift 2 has GT1 and GT3, but to what extent i do not know as i have not played it.

This is also true, but you have to work your way upto it. at the start it is abit like Gran turismo, just road cars round tracks and such.

It depends how much you like your racing and how much realism you want.
