hi,

i'm having problems with my pc randomly cutting out due to power failures which I think are to do with PSU, which from reading what people have said on the forums isn't a very good one. (QTEC 500W Big Fan)

Strangely enough i'm not sure if this is to do with my PSU, everytime I switch on PC after a while it cuts out and causes random power cut outs in my parents house switching things on and off.

Do you think this could be caused by my PSU?, I have switched power extension leads both of which had surge protection.

But just now it happend with the new power extension lead, so any advice?

Either tell me to get my PC PAT tested?

Or suggest me a new PSU, the spec for PC is shown below.

AMD FX-55 2.6Ghz
Gigabyte nForce 4 KN8 Pro-Sli
BFG Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT
2GB RAM
200 GB SATA HDD
1 DVD Drive, 1 CD RW Drive, 1 Floppy Drive

Thanks again in advance,

I just had a thought that these power problems could have been caused by my new display putting extra power requirements on my graphics card.

Running a 20" widescreen at 1680×1050 resolution for about 2-3 weeks has obvisouly taken the lift out of my QTEC, it did make the QTEC run extra loud after extended gaming sessions.

I'm now running it with my 17" CRT and it seems to run OK, its hasn't died on my yet so far, but after all the horror stories of QTECs I best get a gaming perfromance power supply.
