I’m trying to sort out my mate’s computer for him. He’s just bought a new motherboard, cpu and memory from OC and it doesn’t seem to be playing... The spec of the pc is as follows:
ASrock H77 pro4-m motherboard
8GB geil black dragon 1333mhz ram
Intel core i3 2130
500GB WD hard drive
500W channel well power supply - Old but worked fine on previous pc
Windows 7 64bit home premium
It seems to randomly shut down then restart, usually at the windows loading screen or when I try to update 7 and then get stuck in a continuous loop. Other times it will load and run benchmarks ect for hours! I have updated the bios to the latest version and ran memtest for around 1 hour which completed tests with no errors. When the pc has loaded up I ran OCCT for an hour while monitoring voltages and temperatures and all seemed fine! I have unticked the box “restart on errors” but it doesn’t blue screen, just shuts down and restarts. I have also measured psu voltages with a multimeter and all are within 5% under load.
Other things I have tried:
• Reinstalled windows 7
• Manually set cpu and memory voltages in bios
• Tried 1 stick of memory and in different slots
• Updated windows 7 (when it’s loaded!!)
• Disabled onboard sound, onboard lan and all other features not used
• Tried starting in safe mode
Anyone got any other ideas?! If it’s a hardware fault he will end up sending the lot back as we don’t have spare bits to try!
