PC rebooting During gameplay/ when opening a game

Double check the motherboard manual to check that the RAM slots are correct, I would expect Slot 1 & Slot 3 to have RAM installed into for running dual channel.

Windows will reserve memory as it needs it run it's own exe's and dll's, don't think it uses 2GB though, will be much less.

Have you tried running MemTest also to make sure the RAM is actually working OK?
Also, try with just 1 stick of RAM installed and see if you get similar crashes/issues.

Definately in the correct positions but I will try remounting and slot 2 and slot 4 also. I ran memory diagnostic from windows which was fine. I guess I should try memtest then.
Only just happened yesterday with 3.96gb ram being usable on system properties but 8gb installed.
I havn't bumped or moved the system atall but saying that. My fiance was In my office cleaning yesterday so maybe she could have dislodged something on mistake.
Another random thing to add. While in the BIOS yesterday ( before this occured) I was checking the XMP profiles by clicking them to basically have a look. I clicked back on default and didn't save anything but maybe 10-15 seconds later the BIOS froze and I had to reboot the computer. This could maybe be a factor? Who knows.
Regards.

I'd double check for the XMP profile as well then, might have messed something up if it's default to something else.

Just seem's weird that it's only picking up 1 stick.

Steps to try:

#1 - Make sure they're in the correct slot (Most likely are) & Check XMP profile
#2 - Remove one and see how it performs, then switch the sticks and see if it's working.
#3 - Run MemTest for a while to make sure they're working as they should
#4 - If all those pass without issue, possibly another component.

Thank you for the replies.
Another thing that just came to mind. A few days ago or so i had a random "memory management" error causing a restart. Was just the one off.
I wonder if it could even be the voltage.
Maybe a cmos reset would be good for me to do just incase.
To be honest though i'll check hwmonitor too to make sure the psu voltage values are within a certain range ( as per the psu check sticky).
Regards.

I just took the RAM out and re-inserted back into the same slots. Checked System Properties and shows 8.00GB now without the 3.96 usable message.
Hope this is permanent.
We'll see :).
