Since my new X48 motherboard and crossfire 4870 which seems to be running well "well when crossfire does engage that is" temps seem ok CPU and GPU.

I am using 8:12 cat drivers on a fresh install very intermittent the pc will reboot once i had VPU recover kick in from grx card What is that??

Could this be a cat driver issue as i seem too see allot of complaints about 8:12 drivers.
Cat 9.1 should be out soon i hope.

Thanks in advance

youre right 9.1 should be out soon, theres known issues with VPU recover and you should disble it, if you can find it (I cant), its in CCC somewhere

Other thing is have you manually set your fan speeds? as they tend to be set quite low by default - round 24& I think, you can ramp em up to 35% without noticing anymore noise, I use this for desktop stuff, then have other profiles to set it to 50 for gaming or even 70 if its a really intense game, only thing is you do notice it

I'd try turning off the option to automatically reboot on errors (Right click My Computer / Advanced iirc) so you will atleast then (probably) get a blue screen and an error number to Google & hopefully resolve the problem. :)

Hi Guys,

I have fan set to 40% on both and regarding overclock CPU is overclocked but not the GPU,s

I can recreate vpu recovers by simply undervolting my ram/northbridge or overclocking and undervolting my cpu. When experiencing problems always bring everything back down to stock, it makes trouble shooting so much easier.

suggestion above by R420LA6X2/4MNA is also spot on, however sometimes you may find that the "driver.sys" file is accused of causing errors when it is another instability which is at the heart of things.

Hope you get this sorted.
Regards,

Well VinceB1,
I did turn down slightly the CPU Voltage, because i was looking at the Asus utility which showed CPU voltage at 1.34 so i put down to 1.35, it was on 1.420 maybe your right??

There is only one way to find out my good friend... I am not saying that I am right, it's just somewhere to start looking.
