I've always had this problem since I got my comp in 2009 but now that I've moved out and pay my own electricity bills, I care more and can't afford to leave the damn thing on all the time lol.

It simply won't shut down. When I tell it to shut down it go's about the process normally, closes everything and powers off for all of 1-2 seconds, and reboots itself! It never EVER stays off.

If I want to turn it off I literally have to pull the plug, hit the power switch at the back or hold down the power button on the front for 4 seconds. None of which I like doing every since time.

I'm looking for what the issue is? Some people have said something about magic packets but I've turned off the options they've told me too and it still doesn't work.

If anyone has any idea what to do please let me know, this is reeeeally annyoing! Maybe its getting smarter >.>

Are you sure you're not putting it into sleep mode? Something might be waking it up. Check the system events in the event viewer (type event view into your start menu) and see what it says.

I really don't know what I'm looking for in that event viewer :(

Yeah I'm sure I'm shutting it down. Sleep mode works fine and it stays asleep, but when I decide to shut the PC down it will do everything normally, close all the programs and "Shutting Down" will appear on the screen, then the power will go off for 1-2 seconds and then the computer reboots itself. I can't find a way to stop it from rebooting :(

I would look in the BIOS for any setting about resume if power supply is interrupted. Just to rule it out.

Don't know if having case buttons wired up wrongly to motherboard would cause your issue.

Had an issue with an old motherboard and the latest BIOS causing it to power on/off very quickly when mains power was turned on. So maybe worth checking if there’s a newer BIOS version for your motherboard.
