PC restarting itself. Sometimes bluescreens and no display on start up.

Few problems...

I was playing the new Assassin's Creed today and my PC restarted itself 3-4 times. I then went on Football Manager and it restarted again, but this time when the computer started up the monitor couldn't find the output, it just kept searching each one(hdmi, digital and analog). I then Restarted the computer myself using the physical button and it came on fine.

I'm also at times getting a blue screen, this can happen when I'm not playing any games and just on the desktop.

Looking at the Event viewer and it's showing:

Event ID - 41
Source - Kernal-Power

And I've had 5 of them in the last 24 hours.

The specs are:

i5 2500k @ 3.3ghz (This was the first pc I built so I didn't want to overclock it)
8gb ram
Gtx 970
 
It starts with a massive sad face ": (" and I think there is a QR code. I haven't heard any beeps.

Could it be the PSU? The CPU, motherboard, ram, hdd and PSU were all bought in 2011, just before Battlefield 3 was released. I've since added an SSD and the 970.
 
Just had another crash whilst playing Football Manager.

Screen went black but I could still hear the stream I was listening to in the background, it completley crashed 5-10 seconds later and I had to restart it using the button on the case.

And rather long shot, but with that age of parts you might try changing "BIOS"/RTC battery on motherboard.
It going empty is capable to causing weird symptons.

Northbridge chip failing on motherboard? I have a similar issue with mine and is going to result in a m/board/CPU/RAM upgrade. Current set up is 10 years old so well worth it...

That's about half over what I would trust cheap capacitor PSU in enthusiast use.
Clogged by dust heatsinks could also cause problems under load (like graphics card overheating) but cheap PSU would be risk regardless of amount of dust-bunnies inside PC.

Core 2 was last Intel CPU with motherboard
based northbridge.
After that first memory controller and then graphics card slot bus controller were integrated into CPU.
 
REVIVE!

Computer is crashing and the bluescreen is coming up with the error "FAULTY HARDWARE CORRUPTED PAGE". Was playing Assassins Creed Origins when it happened and it was playing fine.

When I try and restart the computer it will power on for about 2 seconds and turn off again, after a few tries it will stay on but I will not get any signal when my monitor is plugged into the graphics card. I've now plugged the monitor into the motherboard socket and it's working but it's obviously a temporary solution. After a while I can plug the the monitor back into the graphics card and it will work but I'll still get the same crash later on.

Obviously a hardware problem but I'm wondering if someone can tell what it is or how I can find what piece of hardware is causing it.

I did make a post on Black friday weekend about getting new parts but it was made out of pure frustration after the computer crashed and didn't bother in the end.
 
Well, I tried to but I wasn't getting any signal on the monitor when it was plugged in to the motherboard port or the graphics card. I tried to use the tv to see if I could get a signal on that but I couldn't. I heard the Windows start up sound though so it did boot up.

I left it a while and turned it on and it finally came on but I don't know why.

The monitors plugged in to the mothboard again now.

Could it be a motherboard problem then?

mm strange have you tried taking graphics card out also and booting from motherboard ?

have you elimated possibility of psu problem by changing or trying a different psu ? what is your current psu ?

Did you remove the graphics card from the slot before plugging into motherboard port? Also, wait some time whenever changing port, and restart the computer a few times if needed, also restart the monitor.
 
Back again but now in my phone...

Took the graphics card out and couldn't get a signal. Put the graphics card back in and now the computer won't turn on at all. There are lights on on the motherboard buts it's not even turning on when I press the power button on the case or the motherboard.

PSU is a Corsair TX750

could either
be a faulty mobo or psu, id elimate the psu first though if you can get hold off a test one
 
Tried a different PSU and it worked. Problem is the power supply I used was some cheap one from my Dad's old PC, so would rather not use that one. Any suggestions?
